The Huon Pine Story by G. Kerr & H. McDermott | Hardback

The Huon Pine Story by G. Kerr & H. McDermott | Hardback

  • $5995

The Huon Pine Story focuses on the fascinating history of Tasmania's most important tree - from its early exploitation for boat timber and everyday furniture to its present day status as a rare and expensive craft wood.

In the early 1800s logging was carried out by convicts working under extremely harsh conditions in the Gordon River. After the convicts came freelance piners who worked all the wild rivers from the Huon, in the south of the state to the Pieman in the north-west.

The Huon Pine Story is a comprehensive account of the piners, the timber they harvested, and its uses from 1803 through until 2000.
